David Edwards, the director of animal biotechnology at the Biotechnology Industry Organization, explained it in this way: “Extra labeling only confuses the consumer,” he says. “It differentiates products that are not different.” Except that they are different. If they were really no different, then AquAdvantage company wouldn’t be growing them. The whole point of genetically modified salmon is that they are modified with extra growth hormone genes to make them grow more quickly. What passes as “peer reviewed” these days is a joke. If you have the funds you can get anything “peer reviewed” in your favor. The tobacco lobby did it well for half a century. Unfortunately there is very little funding available to those who would demonstrate the dangers inherent and manifest in forcing this technology on society. And if you think being concerned for the damage being done by GMO makes a person a “vegan socialist douche” then you really don’t have a clue…
