Persuasion 2007 Part 3

Anne (Sally Hawkins) fell deeply in love with handsome young naval officer Frederick Wentworth (Rupert Penry-Jones) at the age of nineteen. But with neither fortune nor rank to recommend him, Anne’s family were against the match and persuaded her to break off the engagement. Eight years later, Anne has lived to regret her decision. She never stopped loving Frederick and when he returns from sea having made his fortune and reputation, she can only watch as every eligible young woman in the district falls at his feet. Can Frederick forgive Anne for listening to her family instead of her heart?

    “Once there were no two hearts so open, no feelings so in harmony.
    But now we are strangers…Worse than strangers, for we may never become acquainted.”
    These lines break my heart for i know how true they are , I have loved and lost. We grew up together and were friends for a decade. Now we can berely stand in the same room together , with half glance and half smile…the pain that beats within never stops …for we are worst then stangers never to become acqaunted nor meet again…

    @ippoyo1 I think I would have been shaken too. But I’m sure that if Anne had bursted into tears Wenworth would have run to her and stopped acting like that. He loves her too much to make her suffer. That what’s so sweet about him. OMG why there is no such men in the real world ?

  7. barnabyfraser says:

    Much prefer Anne as a woman to any of the Bennett girl’s.
    My kingdom for an Anne Elliot.

    I agree. I, too, am not a one of the strong ones. I can forgive….but I can never ever forget. It’s probably the one thing that will take me straight to hell.

    @ghpoulsen
    I noticed that too. He was not pleased. He gave her a similar look when his sister introduces them at dinner and Anne says “We met briefly yesterday.” He is pissed. I can just imagine what he was saying in his mind – “Oh really Anne? Did we meet yesterday?” His anger is understandable but that same anger is what makes their reunion take longer to happen.
