Persuasion 1995 – “Far Away” Wentworth & Anne
Fanvid of Jane Austen’s Persuasion from the 1995 BBC Miniseries. I thought the song really reflected Frederick Wentworth’s emotions in his reunion with Anne Elliot (and her feelings as well!). If you have not watched this version, I highly recommend it – Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Root are wonderful in the lead roles. Hope you enjoy it! Ratings and comments are welcomed and appreciated. Made with Adobe Premiere Elements 7 This is strictly for entertainment purposes only – no copyright intended! I do not own the clips or music.

Their eyes spoke so much. Both Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds were ideally cast. I wish I could find this film on YouTube …
But at least we can enjoy wonderful videos like this.
This song is so fitting for Anne and Frederick. I love it when the clips match the lyrics, and you did that so well. “stop breathing…” playing when she grips the chair…”I forgive you” playing when Frederick says he tried to forget her. Oh!! It was all so well done!
The AR/CH movie is the definitive version of Persuasion. You truly believe that these two characters take each other’s breath away.
Thank you for creating this video!!
love, love, love…where is my Wentworth? I could watch this every day. my favorite movie. yummy
@saitobio I’ve several “Jane Eyre”s too. His is not my fav version of that story, but I think that’s due to the direction and editing of the film. I absolutely LOVE CH, tho! I’ve seen him in many films and TV series/mini-series, and he’s an AMAZING actor. HBO’s “Rome” wow. “Prime Suspect” (w/Helen Mirren), “Amazing Grace”, “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day”, “The Mayor of Casterbridge”. Need to see “Eclipse” and upcoming “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy”. He’s so good! Wish I could see him on stage.
@33dsh Ciaran Hinds played Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre. He is older and heavier but still fabulous. I have seen several versions of Jane Eyre (even the one that came out recently) and he is my favorite Mr. Rochester – great actor.
Haven’t been able to find the full version of this film on You Tube. I would love to watch it again and again. I never get tired of these stories.
@KDRainstorm I feel like I’ve re-discovered this story, after seeing this film version. I’m totally in love with Ciaran Hinds. Amazing actor. Not, perhaps, conventionally handsome, but so dreamy, so expressive, so passionate yet understated. And then so uncertain in Bath, but in the end, that LETTER! Oh my, here I go swooning again! I watched the film again today, inspired by this music video. I never tire of it. Or CH as Wentworth. All the other actors are amazing too. Total Perfection. sigh.
@24JRosie Yeah…Ciaran Hinds was just so wonderful in this role. It’s funny…I really didn’t think he was very handsome, but after watching him in this role – he is just stunning! I couldn’t take my eyes off him!
@tepajdawb Thank you! So glad you liked the video! This is my fave version too – and you’re right, they perfectly capture all the pent up emotion and passion that these characters have for each other! I never get tired of watching this…sigh…!
@33dsh Oh, I am in total agreement with you! Ciaran Hinds is MY definitive Captain Wentworth, too! He was just perfect in every way! So make room for me…I’ll swoon right with you – LOL!
@KDRainstorm I second that. I’ve seen both, also. RPJ IS very good looking and probably closer to the right age, but I ADORE Ciaran Hinds. He captures the character and the book so well. In the first section, he’s civil, aloof, but you can tell he still has feelings for her. After Lyme, he realizes and admits to himself that he still loves Anne. In Bath, he’s hopeful, jealous and uncertain. All in the book, and CH totally nails it. Breathtaking, Amazing actor! Also like AR better than SH. jmho
He makes a really could Captain Wentworth.
omg!!! you captured all of their feelings in this vid! i love this story and usually will read it every year. i have found that this version is my favorite as there is so much feeling conveyed without much words at all!!! ♥
Now, after seeing several versions of this film, I’m convinced that Ciaran Hinds is the definitive Wentworth. Well for me anyway. I am now in search of everything he’s done…What an amazing actor. They say the eyes are the window to the soul. That man has GREAT windows! I think I feel a swoon coming on… haha.
Ciaran Hinds as Wentworth = YUM. Now THAT’S a MAN, not a boy, not a guy.
@KDRainstorm
I agree…I saw both versions and I think this one is more faithful to the book, but mainly I think Root and Hinds have great chemistry…the writing, casting, filming and the acting is wonderful in this version.
@TheKeanu101 Thank you! I agree…this version is my fave, too! I just LOVED Ciaran Hinds as Capt. Wentworth…<3
love this video..love this movie def one of my favourites..love both versions but this one was the one that made me fall in love with the story and the actors are brilliant!
@beegeefan4ever Thank you so much! Yeah…this is my FAVORITE version of Persuasion…:)
LOVED this video of Persuasion you did!!!
@kimchifii I definitely recommend this adaptation! I actually watched the 2007 version first and although it was good (and you’re right – RPJ is totally hot!), I prefer this version because it did a wonderful job of following the book. Ciaran Hinds’ Wentworth really blew me away…:)
seems like a good adaption! ^^ i’ve watched the one from 2007 with Sally Hawkins and liked it pretty much … she’s a great Anne and Penry Jones is such a HOT Wentworth! xDD well, however … i think i should watch this one here, shouldn’t i?! =)
@ducky8abug Oh, I agree…one of my fave Wentworth parts in this movie so I had to include it in the vid!
I wanna jump Capt. Wentworth’s bones at 1:45. That look he gives is so sexy and fleeting.
@cagneychick182 I know…when I heard this song – I immediately thought of Persuasion. So surprised that (at the time I did this) that no one used this song for Ann and Wentworth. It’s so perfect for them!
