What extended metaphor can i use to describe an athlete?

Question by Hannah: What extended metaphor can i use to describe an athlete?
Paticularly a sprinter, i need an extended metaphor to decribe. For example (though i dont want to use this) : The sun – his smile was golden, legs like long rays, speed of light etc.

It depends on what you want to convey about the sprinter. If you don’t like the sun rays metaphor, although I think it’s very appropriate, try a flustered puppet desperately pumping its legs (if the speaker is looking at him/her from afar), or describe him/her as one who wants to escape from a problem–perhaps you can see it in his/her expression, or a statue that suddenly comes to life.
