What is the difference between a simile and a metaphor?

Question by : What is the difference between a simile and a metaphor?
I used to think I know a metaphor to the least but then looking at simile examples, now I’m completely confused.

Please help!!

A simile is a comparison using like or as. Example: Her hair was like straw.
A metaphor is saying some is something else. Example: Her hair was straw.
