Has the above quote been true for you? I have horrible memory and can never understand or retain what I read (which I hate, because I’m genuinely interested in learning what I read). I want to change this, so does Conversational Hypnosis actually “allow the brain to automatically shift gears into higher states of learning” or is that just a bunch of hogwash?

Conversational hypnosis, also known as covert hypnosis, began when a psychiatrist named Milton Erickson began looking for a way to use hypnosis to his advantage, even at times when he could not perform a formal induction. So, once they are agreeing with you, you can start bringing up things that may be in contention between the two of you. When you do this, state these things in a way that you would like for the other person to see it. As long as you have them agreeing with you several times in a row already (with their own statements), and frame the matter of contention in as positive a way as possible, they are likely to at least soften on the position. Sometimes, just performing this technique once is all it takes to bring someone around to your point of view.

There are a great many techniques in the field of conversational hypnosis. Some people may even call these secrets. That, of course, is the way of any field that evolves slowly over time. In this case, while there certainly have been other contributors along the way, we must credit Milton Erickson with the the discovery of the majority of our ‘secrets’. It only worked on me when a therapist I was hanging out with tried it without my realizing, LOL. When my inlaws tried it, it was so obvious, I had to avoid giggling and hurting their pride. They are awesome people with a variety of interests including living a medieval life and collecting interesting online degrees, such as hypnotherapy.

But that therapist guy, the first one I mentioned…. He really had me going for a while. It took two weeks at my mom’s house to realize what had happened. She listened in on a phone conversation, trying to figure out what in the world that guy would want to do with me.

After having this book highly recommended to me a few months ago I finally popped over to Amazon and bought it, just to see what all the fuss was about.

I read a lot of business mindset related books and I recently wrote about the top business books I’ve ever read.

That was all before I read Influencer so I didn’t get the chance to include it in my list of the all time greats. Would I have listed it in my list of all time greats? Here’s what I found and here’s the answer…

What’s Influencer About?

The complete title of this book (Influencer – The Power to Change Anything) is a good summary of what this book is about. It won’t empower you to change absolutely anything but it’s close. Stuff like the laws of gravity have been around for a long time and aren’t likely to change soon.

However, any situation that is driven by human behaviour can be changed and this book will give you an army of resources in which to make those changes happen.

This book describes in detail the influence strategies used by many to achieve great things. The strategies are varied and include personal, social and environmental techniques which can be used together to influence massive change.

Who’s Influencer For?

If you have anything in mind which you’d like to change about your life or other peoples lives that is driven by human behaviour then this book is for you.

Whether it’s reducing crime, improving health, reducing world poverty, having productive employees, improving teenagers behaviour or rehabilitating drug addicts, with this book you can change them all.

For business owners in particular there’s often a lot of bad habits and bad behaviours within your companies which you might know about but up until now have learned to live with.

If you think you’ve already tried everything then give this book a read. You’ll feel like you have a new found strength to take on any negative situation in your business and change it for the better.

What Do I Think Of Influencer?

When I started to read this book I was a little skeptical. After reading only a few chapters I found myself being amazed at what some of the worlds greatest influencers have actually achieved.
This book uses a few good examples of great influencers and their most ambitious projects, which it continues to return to throughout. There’s a number of startling statistics which provide evidence as to how the influence strategies it describes can achieve amazing results.

I didn’t realise until I read this book that achieving influencer over situations you wish to change is a whole science, but something which anyone can learn to do. Don’t expect this to be a quick fix book though. Influencing massive change can be a difficult task and sometimes a number of attempts need to be made, using different combinations of strategies.

Should You Read Influencer?

From the tone of this review so far I guess you already know the answer to this. It’s a definite “yes” for business owners and anyone who wants to achieve something in life which involves other people changing their behaviours first.

If you’re happy with your life and wouldn’t wish to change anything about it then maybe it’s not for you. However, I’m a big fan of this book and I believe it’s an excellent read for anyone wishing to invoke change.

In answer to my original question “would I include this book in my list of all time greats?” I think “yes”. It’s one of those books which brings new and exciting ideas to the table, ideas which you can really build on and use in real life to see real results. Those books are few and far between

I hope this review was helpful. One important aspect of being an entrepreneur and achieving a good business mindset is the concept of “lifelong learning”. I think this book contributes well to that and spending your valuable time reading it is time well spent.

This particular language pattern is called the “Lost Performative.” The lost what? What it is is a way to make a statement, be it a simple statement or a bold proclamation, and leave the person who is actually responsible for making the statement vague, or unspecified. When done like this, the listener will have to “fill in the gaps,” of who this imagined “person” really is. And when they do they will come up with their own imagined reference. This will make the idea much more believable to them, as they are using their own subconscious to support your idea. Pretty cool, right?

The way to construct this pattern is to first think of the idea you’d like to persuade your listener to believe. Lets use “dogs make the best pets,” for an example. If you said, “I think dogs make the best pets,” you would simply be expressing your opinion, and that would be easy to disagree with. If you said, “Lots of people think dogs are the best pets,” then it’s a little bit better, as you now have the backing of this imaginary social group, but it is still just an opinion of a larger group.

But if you say something like, “It has been known for years that dogs make the best pets,” then it sounds like you are expressing an established fact. As the phrase, “It has been known for years,” leaves a lot of unanswered questions in the listeners mind. Known by who? How did they know? When you are congruent with your statement, that is you say without any hint of disbelief, your listener will usually fill in the blanks themselves.

Some other ways to say it:

It has been proven that dogs make the best pets.

It has been well established that dogs make the best pets.

It is a foregone conclusion that dogs make the best pets.

One thing that is certain, is that dogs make the best pets.

To really cement an idea in your listeners mind, mention it as described above, and then start talking about the implications, or results, or effects of your “foregone” conclusion.

The other thing to understand is that we all think we are some how “different,” and that our fears and desires are somehow unique from everybody else. Maybe by a little bit, but not by much.

Everybody, at least in western society, wants more money, less time at the office, more time at home. We are all worried about our future to a certain degree. We all have things in our past we regret, things we wish we could have done differently. We all want a little bit more recognition for our efforts and the things we do in our daily lives. Commonly referred to as Universal Truisms, these are generally true for everybody.

So how do you use this? You combine these ideas, with some astute situational observations, and you can generate some pretty powerful feelings of rapport in your listener relatively quickly. While I don’t advocate using these methods to con people into thinking you really are psychic, and get them to pay you for a palm reading, there are people that do that.

But you can use some basic statement that will elicit strong feelings in your listener of connection, and make them feel as if you really know them. This can be very handy if you are a salesperson, and want to develop some rapport relatively quickly.

All you need to do is to think about some things that they are most likely thinking, based on the situation, and the universal truths. For example, if you are a real estate agent, and you are showing a home to a young couple who are hoping to buy their first, just imagine the things they are likely thinking. They are probably worried about the payments. They are worried about the neighbors. They are worried if it’s a safe neighborhood for any kids they may have.

Just simply say a few simple, kind of vague statements about them and what they might be thinking. Recognize their fears, and their hopes for the future. By doing so, they will no longer think of you as a salesman, but as somebody that genuinely understands their unique situation, and wants to help them out. And this will do a great deal towards skyrocketing your commissions, and generating more referrals than you know what to do with.

This is a great question as are many that are on this website. I think that you might have some power or else you wouldn’t of been able to ask that question. To me there are things probably different entities that protect us from this type of instances. This is also an aggravating question because if this is really going on I will be pissed. The powerless might also have their own reason for being in the position that they are in. When I think of power I notice that Oprah and the new pres elect seem to be up there. I am sure that alot of it has to do with money but when I think deeper its probably about the bloodlines that we come from.

Roderigo is a bit stupid,Iago promises him Desdomonna in exchange for money.Brabantio is told that a disgusting black man has used magic to seduce his daughter. Othello is undone by his insinuations that a nice girl like Desdomonna has feelings for Cassio.
The problem is that everyone trusts Iago with the exception of poor Desdomonna.

i bought it and it has actually definitely helped me in more ways than one.

it has helped me in like relationships, over all dealing with people in office ( i now get promoted faster than others) and many many other advantages which can’t be listed here

A few months back, a friend of mine found himself unhappy at his current job.  He had been there for approximately 7 years and had not been given a promotion since being hired.  Being a good friend, I met up with this friend of mine to discuss the follies of life and how it always seems that my friend constantly gets the short end of the stick.  It’s all about the power of conversational hypnosis.  He didn’t quite understand what I meant at that point but, he trusted my opinion.  I told him that it’s all about controlling a conversation.
